18th Annual Hayes Valley Holiday Block Party: Friday December 5th, 6 - 9pm

Actually the party starts Friday, November 28th at 11am!

We are excited to announce the return of our "Circle of Joy'' art walk, a silent auction of artists' wreaths - benefiting Opportunity Impact.

The Circle of Joy is an event that we held for 5 consecutive years in the early 1990s. For the revival of this event, we have partnered with Opportunity Impact, a Western Addition-based organization providing support programs for at-risk youth in grades 4 - 8.

We have 26 local artists donating their artistic talent and their time to create art pieces for our auction. Three of these artists, Madeline Behrens-Brigham, Nicole Bauguss and Gregg Cassin are also doing an "art workshop" with the kids from Opportunity Impact, so we will have 6 wreaths made by the kids!

The wreaths will be on display in store windows throughout the neighborhood. Bidding starts Friday, November 28th at 11am and ends Friday, December 5th at 9pm. A list of locations will follow.

Participating artists: Blair Bradshaw, Chris Thorson, Lauren Fleischer, Andrew Venell, Don Ross, Lucky Rapp, Mark Paron, Christopher W. Stokes Inside Modern, Ginny Parsons, Kevin Grady, The Present Group, Justin Trigg, [mm+gf] Ally Trigg and Bethany Snyder, Lori Stein, Storm, Matt Silady, Ed Luce, Ben Collison, Madeline Behrens-Brigham, Nicole Baugass, Gregg Casin, Kirsten Tradowsky, Michael G. Broeker

Whats Happening

We're all feeling the pinch these days, but the small businesses in Hayes Valley are here to help with the new Hayes Valley Money rewards program! Here's how it works: from now until November 29th, shop at any participating merchant for a chance to win a Hayes Valley Money card good for $5, $10, or even $20! You can use your reward card in the shop where you got it or at any other participating store. Just look for the "money card participating merchant" signs in store windows or refer to the list below.

Hayes Valley Money rewards cards are good for 30 days-perfect for using towards your holiday shopping. So this year, instead of spending bundles on piles of disposable "stuff," why not get everyone on your list one thoughtful, distinctive present that they will truly cherish? Gifts like a bottle of hot sake, a pair of knitted gloves, or a cozy throw are all guaranteed to warm your loved ones' hearts and hands. You can also purchase Hayes Valley Money cards to give to your friends as gift cards--a great gift idea for those hard-to-shop-for people on your list!

This holiday season, help keep our small businesses alive by shopping local, and they'll give back to you! Right now you can receive and use Hayes Valley Money cards at the following locations:

Zonal, Honey Ryder, Propeller, True Sake, Nomads, Lavish, Lava 9, Fiddlesticks, African Outlet, Through the Hayes Optometry, Sharon Reaves Gallery, Uko, Jacquelinetalbot, Tazi Designs, and Babies.
